Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope (1977 & 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition)

May 25th, 1977, a movie changed the landscape of cinema forever.

Today, 30 years ago what made geeks become cool, and added philosophies such as the Force and Jedi vs. Sith into the pop lexicon that is still seeing it's effect in today's society.

Of course I am talking about Star Wars.  George Lucas's brainchild of a young orphan farmer boy named Luke Skywalker who took on the galaxy at large against an evil personified in Darth Vader.

Today I have the honour of paying tribute to this wonderful franchise by releasing a Star Wars 30 years Anniversary podcast special and also our very own Fan made DVD Commentary of the original Star Wars Film, Star Wars Episode IV:  A New Hope.

You can find both of those podcasts by clicking here to go http://thisweekingeek.net

Also to add to this, what some people call, a holiday, Mike and I are currently live at a Star Wars event in Welland Ontario where fans have gathered together to watch the film that started it all.

Popcorn has been popped, collectables are being purchased, and Mike is taking pictures and interviewing some of the people that made this event here possible.  As soon as they become avilable I will post them online on this blog as well as thisweekingeek.net for everyone's enjoyment.

While of course I am blogging the entire thing.

Stay tuned for more updates throughout the time that we are here as I attempt to convey the fun that we are all having.

1:00pm - Princess Leia and a Rebel Pilot has just arrived and Mike is talking with them now.  Expect an audio interview soon.

1:01pm - A raffle of a R2-D2 Pepsi cooler has just started.  Of course you know that Mike and I entered.

1:03pm - Mike had brought over some FX-Lightsabers and some kids have asked to take some pictures with them.  Great kids.

1:05pm - Movie is about half over.  Obi Wan just took down the forcefields, and our intrepid crew has just escaped the infamous Trash Compactor Monster.

1:07pm - A stormtrooper walked in and the Rebel Pilot did not look happy.

1:21pm - Lost Wi-Fi signal for a bit, but back online and so far the Rebel Forces are now massing an attack towards the Death Star.  Meanwhile the kids are loving the lightsabers.

1:25pm - Just got free Pizza, Water, and Cake.  Sometimes it pays to be in Media!  hehe

1:27pm - The Dark Lord of the Sith, Vader has just arrived.

1:32pm - Just survived a Sith Death Grip.  I mistakenly said that Vader was short guy wearing platform shoes.  Man that was close!

1:36pm - The Death Star has just been destroyed!!!  The Rebels are victorious!!

1:40pm - Mike is now in a fight to the death with Darth Vader!  Who will be victorious?!

1:42pm - The Battle still continues!  It is evenly matched!

1:45pm - The Battle has been declared as a draw!  Vader let Mike live this time!  Next time he won't be so lucky.

2:00pm - Event is over.  It's been a major blast!  Expect pictures and audio from us soon!

May the Force be with you, today of all days.
