Hello all,
I’ve been wanting to talk about this for the past week, but haven’t been able to wrap my thoughts on the subject matter until now.
There was a post made by a prominent radio show host here in Toronto at Q107 FM which he talks about Twitter. If you would like to read the post, you can go to http://bit.ly/q107twitter. This host is not a fan of twitter and doesn’t quite understand it as much as myself, not as an expert, but as a Twitter veteran. Sometimes it’s hard for those of us on Twitter to understand as well that there are people who don’t understand it and sometimes can mock the site as well as those of us on it.
At any rate, read the post, then watch this quick video I made to get my thoughts out there.
Now what do you think? What do you use Twitter for? What is it about Twitter that you like the most? Comment on the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c1TLvYYKnc or by posting your comment below.
As always, I remain, obediently yours.
Steve
Twitter is my favorite tool to check my social connections, though it does take a bit to find some info but hardly a burden with how simply and easily it works.
I use Twitter to keep in touch with what I’m interested in. That is both humans as well as companies (e.g. software companies) and I even follow a local news channel to keep on top of headlines (although the news channel does not seem to have things all figured out yet).
My guess is that Darrenger (sp?) was trying to push a few buttons, because of who he is (i.e. morning show guy, lets get the phones ringing) and/or he has experienced a SpamAlot user or two.
I agree that for local friends, you dont just use Twitter, but it is still a useful tool. But, as Steve said, Darrenger’s view of Twitter is really narrow. Twitter gives you access to interesting people and things all over the world. Its a great tool and its great to feel some connection with a few different people.
