Ok, I know it's kind of pointless to actually post something before I post Audio-VOX Episode 006 (which is coming later tonight), and more than likely this post is going to go below the fold(that's the part where the website is cut at the bottom of the screen so you have to scroll to see the rest of the page), but I don't care. I'm at work and I'm bored. Plus, I need to get a few things off my chest before I finish up work and go home.
“80 percent of the material…..continued”
Ok, so first off, I'm sorry about the tubes outburst this week. Honestly, I am still upset. Even more now because a friend of mine had a competition going to see who got the higher mark. Sadly I lost by like six marks. However, I did find something very interesting about that 80 percent. Apparently, according to our Online college accounts where our marks are inputed, the class average for that midterm exam was 60 percent! That's a big drop. So not only am I crushing the class average, I am apparently still near the top of the class!!!
Isn't that odd?
To make it even weirder, I got back another mark for another midterm exam. This time for the Current Events course I'm taking (Which by the way, the teacher for that course is really cool, and I've had her before in the past, and she definitely makes class fun, and she is more personable than any of my other teachers). According to our lovely Online accounts again I got a 72 percent on the exam. Still not my best, and I am upset about that one, however the class average this time is 50 percent!!
So again, not only am I crushing the class average, I'm still near the top of the class!
Add +10 to the oddness!
Anyway, that does make me feel a bit better than I was earlier in the week, but still I'm a bit upset at the marks I did get.
“Robin's Helpful Homework Hint”
I told my friend Robin I would blog about this, so here I am. Somebody try to stop me!!!
Anyway, I was recounting my midterm story to her today (She is my ride to and from school most days throughout the week which is cool), and she gave me some good advice, which I will share in a minute.
I first need to say I have only recently realized a revelation about myself, more along the lines of my study habits. I am a Social Studier (Patent pending)
Wait, first before I move on, I just talked to a customer in the states by the name of Adin Ofuk Abung. Let's just say I got a few stares saying that name. Hehehehe. Anyway, moving on….
So yes, I am a social studier. I love to study with other people. Because I am an auditory learner I need the social aspect to help me learn and retain information. So by being with a group of people either quizing me or going through lecture notes out loud really helps me when studying.
When I study alone, it's harder for me to retain the information later. I go through everything from reading over text books to downloading the power point files of lectures and writing/typing notes from the presentations.
However, when I study alone, I usually put the studying off and other things get in the way. Also, I will skim other places and read thoroughly in other places. Which usually for me the times I skim over items I really need are the ones are I need for the test.
Unfortunately with being a social studier, I live in an area outside of the school vicinity so being able to study with people from my class is very limited.
Now, normally for me my studying usually happens, during the week, because I like to keep weekends free for friends. Now, since I work and go to school during the week, my studying time alone is also very limited.
So you see my dilema, but the beauty of this is, that's where Super Happy, Helpful, Honorable, Holder of Hints that Robin is, I now present to you Robin's Helpful Homework Hint!!!!!
She relayed to me this advice to get my studying done in a social setting. I study with my friends on the weekends! Sounds kind of simple and so “duh, why didn't I think about that”, but to be honest I said that exact same thing when she said it. Because, you see, my friends and I usually get together on Sunday to write. We love to write stories and poems and such that we like to get together one day out of the week to keep our creative writing juices going. So Robin suggested to do my studying then. Which completely makes sense!!!
So that is what I am going to do and it still keeps me happy by a) still spending time with friends b) studying for school c) study in a social setting and d) keep me from getting more 70's on a Current Events exam.
So as I leave you to ponder that helpful hint and the plethora of H's that followed, I bid you adieu until we meet again(which is in like a few hours, so stay tuned)
Toodles!
