Star Wars Episode IV – A New Hope (1977 & 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition)
May 25th, 1977, a movie changed the landscape of cinema forever.
Today, 30 years ago what made geeks become cool, and added philosophies such as the Force and Jedi vs. Sith into the pop lexicon that is still seeing it's effect in today's society.
Of course I am talking about Star Wars. George Lucas's brainchild of a young orphan farmer boy named Luke Skywalker who took on the galaxy at large against an evil personified in Darth Vader.
Today I have the honour of paying tribute to this wonderful franchise by releasing a Star Wars 30 years Anniversary podcast special and also our very own Fan made DVD Commentary of the original Star Wars Film, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
You can find both of those podcasts by clicking here to go http://thisweekingeek.net
Also to add to this, what some people call, a holiday, Mike and I are currently live at a Star Wars event in Welland Ontario where fans have gathered together to watch the film that started it all.
Popcorn has been popped, collectables are being purchased, and Mike is taking pictures and interviewing some of the people that made this event here possible. As soon as they become avilable I will post them online on this blog as well as thisweekingeek.net for everyone's enjoyment.
While of course I am blogging the entire thing.
Stay tuned for more updates throughout the time that we are here as I attempt to convey the fun that we are all having.

Wow, I have been a veteran Internet user for some time now, and I have never seen a revolution like this.
For those not in the know that code that is in my lovely title is not just some random combination of letters and numbers. That would be dumb. That is the encryption key for several HD-DVD's that are in the market right now! You can, if you have an HD-DVD player, hack these little suckers and that's the code that will deactivate the copyright AACS encryption. Which the MPAA is trying to take down. I don't think it's going to work now.
Now this whole thing started on Digg where the users flooded the site with tons of stories with this code in it. But it then went crazy like wildfire clogging up Ted Steven's Tubes like we really don't want Ted Stevens to get his email.
There is already a song on the Woot Podcast about this
There is several photoshopped images of this code
There's a tattoo
There's even a Facebook Group!
It's so cool that users are finally standing up to the big corporations and saying, “We like your content, just quit putting up walls for us to get it”
The Internet is sick of the dumb restrictions that harm users that just want to use content THAT THEY'VE BOUGHT anyway they wish.
So Vive le Revolution people!
I need to get me some HD-DVD's
Toodles!

Hey everyone,
So summer is here at last, and it is hawesome!! The weather is finally turning around and to look outside at the gorgeous sun, I can't help but want to go outside like I did when I was a kid and play Street Baseball or Football.
Which brings up an awesome memory that I haven't thought about for quite a while. I remember growing up in what we call the “West End” of St. Catharines Ontario, my best friend lived two doors down from us and we went to the same school for a while. The best time of our lives was the summer time. We spent more time outside than I ever do now that I'm older. We would play baseball on the street using different objects as the bases. A cable node box for first base, a large tar filled crack on the street for second, a tree on a neighbor's lawn for third, and another large tar filled crack as home plate. We never had a pitcher, because we barely had even 5 kids on our street to play, so the person up to bat would throw up the ball in the air and hit it himself. I was never good at it. To put it bluntly, I was never really good at sports. My brother and my best friend Chris were. I was always jealous of that.
Another game we would play was Street Football, we would play spanning the front lawns on our street using Driveways as the end zones. Of course I was never good at receiving the ball with my eyesight and all, however I apparently was good at Quarterback. Go figure huh? I would love to call plays and throw the ball to whomever I chose. I was the oldest out of all our group, so it was cool to be good at something athletic, and be a leader. I remember that I wanted to actually try to play football in an actual league, but my parents wouldn't allow it because of my eyesight. However, my dad had an old high school football jersey that he wore which had the number 55 and in big block letters SAYLOR written across the back. I always wanted it, and only a year ago he gave me that jersey and every time I wear it I think of those times playing football in the yard.
I look back at all those memories and sometimes even though it was such a long time ago, it seems like yesterday I would ask my parents if I could go outside and play.
During my teenage years, our family moved on and we lost touch with Chris, which really sucked. I never really had any good friendships like that for a long time. Sure I had friends, but never anyone that I could hang out with on a regular basis. It wasn't until last year that I got a piece of my childhood back where I finally have some new best friends to make new memories with.
Sure I will never get to play those summer games like that again, but things change, people grow up. The memories will always live on.
Before I end this post, here are two video blog posts I made last year almost around this time. These are my summer memories that I hope they inspire you to make your own childhood memories come to life.
Enjoy.
Toodles!
